Los servicios de geolocalización han llevado este nivel aún más lejos, invitándonos a revelear un dato tan íntimo como es nuestra posición en cada momento. Las reticencias ante una propuesta así son lógicas, pero Foursquare ha sabido dar en el clavo para convencer al público.
La idea es bien sencilla: convertir la geolocalización en un juego. Así de directa y efectiva es esta propuesta que durante los últimos meses se ha convertido en una de las grandes modas dospuntocero del momento, tanto que algunos ya apuntan a que podría desbancar a Twitter. No creo que llegue a tanto la cosa, principalmente porque Foursquare persigue unos objetivos ligeramente diferentes, pero alicientes no le faltan para triunfar.
La base de esta idea la encontramos en servicios como Yelp o Qype, que nos invitan a dar a conocer entre nuestros contactos lugares a los que vamos como restaurantes, salas de conciertos, centros comerciales, etc. Esa propuesta, que ya supone un primer aliciente para vencer las reticencias a la geolocalización porque sí, adquiere una nueva dimensión en Foursquare al convertirse en una competición amistosa.
De esta forma, cada vez que vayamos a algún sitio haremos «check-in» (el próximo término de moda, después de «twitear»), pudiendo dejar un mensaje corto sobre el lugar en cuestión a forma de recomendación. Si somos los primeros en hacer «check-in» en un sitio recibiremos una bonificación, y también habrá premios por visitar el mismo sitio varias veces el mismo día, por ser el usuario que en más ocasiones visita un lugar, etc.
Existen inclusos títulos como el de «mayor», que se nos asignan si somos la persona que hace más «check-in» en un lugar determinado.
